This new national Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC) is a valid first step for adult learners stepping into foundational learning on way to further studies, training, or work. In the face of rising costs and decreased funding, a community of foundational learning practitioners must stand up to support and advocate for this credential and next steps to give often disavowed learners access and a voice. This community must promote the CAEC to students, stakeholders, funders, support services, and government agencies. They must establish standards of delivery and assessment resources and practices. Collaboration on CAEC prep, testing, management, and access will be paramount. This movement begins and continues with dialogue followed by action. |
